This charming pair of antique carved coral earrings date from the mid Victorian period, circa 1860. Each earring is made up of Italian carved coral, featuring four tiers of flowers- sunflowers and tulips, beautifully carved and detailed. The earrings drop from carved tops, dangling freely with a drop of 2 inches. Backed in 15k gold with gold wires, they come complete with their fitted box. 

Victorian jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers", whereby each flower or plant represented some romantic or emotional sentiment... In this case, sunflowers and tulips represent adoration and declaration of love...
